See the Sound

This project was formed April 2020 during the period of the UK's lockdown. Whilst working remotely, Bethany started a creative chain by forwarding a recording to Kate Shires who responded visually. The order of the chain went as follows: Bethany Norman (flute), Kate Shires (artist), Elizabeth Searle (mezzo), Alex Oliver (Artist), Ralitsa Penkova (piano). See the Sound is where we play with the boundaries between the visual and musical arts through a series of workshops involving musicians and artists. During these sessions, we hope to explore the relationship between the two arts and discover how they can be used to create new works of each form, by using the other for inspiration and guidance. The creatives involved find it an interesting and mindful process, providing a completely new perspective towards each individuals' practice. The workshops are lead by Minerva Trio and Kate Shires.
